Am I Worth Recovery?
Many people with eating disorders avoid reaching out because they feel as though they don't deserve freedom from their illness. Some feel ashamed for having an ED to begin with, so they choose pain over happiness. Others simply don't have enough self-worth to understand why they deserve a better life. What ever reason you have, confront it and let it go. Somewhere within you, you know that you want a greater life than this. Don't let an ED or even yourself tell you that you aren't worth recovery or that you aren't allowed to start following new and old dreams again. Don't let it lead you down a path that doesn't have a happy ending— take your life back and start writing your own story again.
After my experiences with some of the negative aspects of life, I began to perceive people differently. When I see a depressed or angry person, I try to look beyond the surface. I've learned that beneath our anger and sadness, we are deserve to be live happy, healthy lives. To me, everyone has a heart, it's just a matter of digging it out of the pain that it's buried under.
If we give into the illusion that we, or others, are bad people and destined to be miserable, we aren't helping that person or ourselves. You are worthy of recovery, so don't let an eating disorder tell you that you aren't.

Is Recovery Worth It?
When we're faced with facing our fears, even if a great thing would result from conquering them, we step back a little. A lot of us choose to hold onto the things that hurt us because we simply can't see the light at the end of the tunnel. When you're so taken in with your struggles, it's difficult to imagine your life getting better and even more difficult to believe that you have the strength to leave those things behind. But when you can eat food without being afraid, or even throw away your scale, you will feel as though you finally have the freedom to enjoy life. So many of us tell ourselves that life is horrible, and why? Because we're accepting the belief that life is bad, so we avoid doing things that are actually good for ourselves! What fun is life when you're always in fear or worried about how you look? What fun is life when you have a problem following you around, telling you what you can or can't do, or telling that you can't be happy? It's exhausting.
It's okay if you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel right now. Look for stories of people who have beat their eating disorders, read positive quotes, listen to upbeat music and surround yourself with people who love and support you. Recovery is worth it.

Is it Too Late?
It's never too late to break away from the arms of an eating disorder or any other problem you may have. Many people think that they're too damaged to get help, or that they have loathed themselves too much to turn their self-hatred into self-love. So instead of reaching out, they deem themselves "broken beyond repair", and I love quotes, but can we please throw that one away? No one is broken beyond repair. That's a limiting belief that too many of us have, and it prevents us from embracing newer, greater things in life. Some of us have even used it as an excuse to avoid facing our fears. Your inner strength is always there and never leaves, that's why you aren't ever too damaged to start your life over. You only become hopeless when you lose hope in yourself, so as long as you have that, there is always a way to better yourself.
Don't make this worse for yourself by believing that it's too late for you. Instead, get back on your feet and prove to the part of you that's doubting your strength, that you are strong. Remember: even when you're at your lowest, there is always a way back up.

Is it Too Early?
Like all illnesses, be it mental or physical, it's important to confront them before they have a chance to dominate your life. It doesn't matter if you're an average weight or overweight, eating disorders are mental illnesses and they don't discriminate against certain body types or genders.
If you've had an eating disorder for weeks, or even if you've stopped eating for a day, don't wait for things to get worse to get help. Please love yourself because you deserve a great life.
