Meditations
Meditation generally involves relaxing the body and quieting the mind through deep breathing. Here are various meditations and stress relieving techniques that can help you if you feel overwhelmed during your recovery. Stress can cause severe damage to the body and mind, so it's important to make sure that you're taking the time to clear your mind throughout your healing experience.
I'll say this now: meditation isn't a one day thing! Although meditation can make you feel at ease in that moment, you may have to meditate more than once to make long-term progress. When you have the flu, you have to take the medicine more than once, right? From my experiences with anger, it put up a fight when I tried to let it go using meditations and other techniques. If this happens to you, don't feel like you're losing the battle if your problems arise again! They are simply fighting back, so it's up to you to show them that you have the strength to conquer them.

Basic Meditation
|
Cleansing Meditation
This meditation is designed to clear your mind of overwhelming negative thoughts, emotions or voices that stem from an eating disorder, depression, or any other negative influences or feelings that you have. I believe that beneath our pain, we are all beautiful and strong, but to access our greatness we must embrace the light from our hearts. In this meditation, you will be using that very light.

Stress Techniques
BreatheSimply taking deep, slow breaths can relax you whether you're with others or alone. You don't have to carry out an entire meditation.
|
Visual BreathingVisual breathing is a short, simple meditation. Relax and close your eyes. Inhale, visualizing any of your negative emotions (as words, pictures, anything), then exhale and see those things leaving your mind.
|
Shower powerLong showers can be stress relieving, whether you use visualization or not. The soap symbolizes negative emotions coming to the surface, then gently rinse them away with water.
|
Art and PoetryAs an artist and poet, I know that art allows us to express our emotions and ease them at the same time. There are numerous types of art, such as photography, music, crafting and so on. Don't worry if you aren't a "professional". Don't think about it, just embrace your creative mind.

Symbolic ItemsChoose an item (I prefer necklaces!) that will symbolize your strength, love and determination. When ever you feel hopeless, hold this item and remember what it stands for.
